I don’t want anyone telling me what to do, I want to be able to have complete control over my time, I want to do things on my terms…..
This is the typical response I get any time I interact with professionals who want to transition into starting their businesses or becoming entrepreneurs.
Their primary motivation sometimes is to be their Boss, control their time, do things on their own terms, not be accountable to anyone, and so on…
But these expectations can only happen in a movie because if you are starting in business or transitioning into complete entrepreneurship, you will soon realize that you have more bosses than you anticipated…Your customers would be your boss, your investors would be your boss(You better pick their calls when they call), Your banker(the creditor) is your boss, your regulator is your boss, the government is your boss…you are surrounded by different kinds of bosses…
Avoiding responsibility to a boss or any leader is the wrongest motivation to start a business….if you find yourself unable to follow instructions or directives it is a signal that you need to work more on yourself, and develop humility and submissiveness…these are some of the intangible things in which great businesses are built on.
